Minecraft Game of Thrones – Taking over 4 years to build.
Minecraft is a sandbox independent video game originally created by Swedish programmer, the programmer you may of recently heard of, he beat Jay-Z and Beyoncé to a home in Beverly Hills, a home that sold for more than $60million US Dollars and goes by the name of Markus “Notch” Persson, the game was later published by Mojang and is available for multiple platforms.
Platforms such as: Android, PlayStation 4., PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Windows, Mac OSX and Xbox 360 as well as Xbox One plus several other platforms.
There has been a project going for this game for more than four years, a project that involves recreating the entire “Game of Thrones” continent of Westeros in Minecraft. There has been some recent footage of it that shows off it’s latest additions to the aptly named WesterosCraft which is narrated by Isaac Hempstead-Wright who is also known as Bran from the Game of Thrones TV show.
The project was first reported in 2012, when it’s designers numbered only seven helpers and now we have fast forwarded to 2015 there are more than 125 fans that are actively sharing and collaborating on the build, building cities, castles and different sceneries.
Four years and it’s still only two-thirds complete, project leader Jacob Granberry told Kotaku that he estimated the project was now around two-thirds complete.
Jacob went on to say:
“”I would say the world is at around 70% completion. We’ve developed a custom launcher for the game that comes packed with our WesterosBlocks mod which includes over 50 new custom blocks and textures specifically made for our server.”
I’m not sure whether it’s going to be worth the time they have spent building it or not, but for everyone involved it’s definitely a great achievement.
