Sega’s latest MMORPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 is still on course to be revealed and released. However, it seems for some it shall be a little later than originally expected.
The game has been delayed for dispatch in the west, this has been a blow for some people. Obviously, this won’t affect loads of people but it will most definately annoy a small majority of users.
The delay in the western region was announced three months back, the time of this announcement was at the same time that the game was being slated for it’s early release in 2013. It seems that people are getting their wish, since the game is still on the waiting order. Hopefully the game will be available very soon for people to play, as many people would like to play the game at some point.
Phantasy Star Online 2 was released for PC in Japan nearly a year ago on July 4, 2012, and the game was also released on the PlayStation Vita in February 2013. An iOS and Android version of the game is currently scheduled for a 2013 release in Japan also.
It is interesting to know what is causing such a long delay. It might be Sega are just slow to translate the game or it might be as Kotaku writer Jason Schreir suggested “maybe there are licensing issues, as sometimes happens with these things.”
Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 2 shall be released in Japan next month, this version of the game shall be availbe on PC and PSVita. Hopefully this will be availbe for everyone at the time of it’s release and not just for a selected few.
Such a shame, when a game is announced it should be ready for release. It shouldn’t be taking so long for something like this to be released for everyone to enjoy. It’s a shame that a great game can’t be enjoyed by everyone, but hopefully they sort everything out before Episode 2 is released for everyone around the world!
